There are countless types of accidents that can happen when using various power tools, such as cuts, scrapes, pinches, punctures, electrocutions, amputations and ultimately death. Particularly construction workers are affected by serious injuries using these tools because they didn't understand the safety issues around them.

All tools have safety guards that one needs to be aware of, no matter of the type of gadget used. While some tools are able to cause smaller damages, others can seriously affect and impact the health of the individual with careless handling. This is why when using any tool, you need to be aware of its particular safety precautions to be able to prevent any accidents.

Also using common sense is required here. If you see that a tool has very sharp teeth, it is understood that you won't use your fingers near these teeth. Also you should not use your fingers near the flames of welding torches. While these are indeed common sense pieces of advice, you'd be surprised to hear of the many such accidents that happened simply because people were extremely careless when using them.

Luckily each tool comes with its own set of usage instructions. There are also various guidelines given by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) that everyone should follow when using power tools to avoid accidents of any kinds.

It is important to first inspect the item. It should have a recent electrical test label, meaning that it has passed recently all sorts of safety tests and inspections. Make sure that the cord is not broken, loose or otherwise frayed. Once the tool passed your own inspection as to all parts being intact, make sure to learn how to actually use it appropriately based on the user manual.

As soon as you've used the piece, make sure to unplug it right away. Many accidents happened because people pressed the start button while their finger was on the teeth of the tool and the finger got cut off in the process, simply because the item was still powered up.

If if comes with a safety switch or guard in place, as soon as you stopped using it, put the guard up so you don't accidentally start it when it should be off.
